Johnnie Walker Blue Label is extending its relationship with Indian fashion designer Rahul Mishra through the launch of its limited edition Indian Festive Blend, a new expression that brings together Scotch whisky craftsmanship and contemporary Indian design. Arriving ahead of Diwali and the wider festive gifting season, the release builds on last year’s collaboration, continuing a partnership shaped by the meeting of cultural heritage, luxury and creative expression. For Johnnie Walker, the project offers an opportunity to explore the traditions and flavours of India through one of its most prestigious whisky expressions, while Mishra brings his distinctive design language to a bottle intended to mark a season defined by celebration, generosity and togetherness.

Mishra has established an international reputation for translating Indian craftsmanship into contemporary couture, becoming the first Indian designer to present at Paris Haute Couture Week in 2020. His work frequently draws on nature, traditional embroidery and the relationship between people and the environment, with intricate handwork forming a defining part of his visual identity. These qualities make his partnership with Johnnie Walker a considered meeting of disciplines, connecting the precision of couture with the patience and expertise required to produce exceptional whisky. The collaboration also reflects a wider movement within luxury, where heritage brands increasingly look to designers to bring new cultural perspectives to established products, creating objects that carry meaning beyond their immediate function.

Crafted by Johnnie Walker Master Blender Dr Emma Walker using rare whiskies selected from the brand’s extensive reserves of more than 10 million casks. According to the brand, only one in every 10,000 casks is considered to possess the depth of flavour required for Johnnie Walker Blue Label. For this edition, the blend has been developed with India’s culinary traditions in mind, drawing inspiration from the interplay of spice, sweetness and aromatic complexity that characterises many festive dishes. The ambition is to preserve the recognisable character of Blue Label while introducing a flavour profile designed to complement the richness and diversity of Indian cuisine, positioning the whisky as an accompaniment to the table as much as a celebratory pour.

The timing is central to the release. Diwali brings together families and communities through food, gifting and shared rituals, making it a natural setting for a collaboration built around hospitality and cultural exchange. The Indian Festive Blend is designed to occupy that space, offering a premium bottle for gatherings and occasions where presentation carries as much significance as the contents. Its appeal lies in the way it connects the traditions of Scotch whisky with the flavours and spirit of Indian celebration, without losing sight of the craftsmanship behind the liquid. It is another opportunity to speak to a global luxury audience through a culturally specific lens, recognising that contemporary luxury is increasingly shaped by the exchange of ideas across borders.

The collaboration also continues Johnnie Walker Blue Label’s broader approach to limited editions, using partnerships with creative figures to explore new interpretations of its established identity. Mishra’s involvement gives the release a perspective that extends beyond packaging, placing Indian design and cultural heritage within a wider conversation about craftsmanship. Meanwhile, Dr Emma Walker’s role ensures that the expression remains grounded in the blending expertise that defines Blue Label. It is this relationship between design and production that gives the project its substance: one discipline creates the visual language, while the other develops a whisky intended to reflect the flavours and atmosphere that inspired it.

The Johnnie Walker Blue Label Indian Festive Blend is available in the UK for £230 through The Whisky Exchange and Master of Malt, with selected availability at Selfridges in store and Harrods from 13 October. Arriving as the festive season approaches, the release continues the dialogue between Johnnie Walker and Rahul Mishra, bringing together the worlds of fashion, whisky and Indian cultural heritage. More than a seasonal variation, it represents an attempt to translate the spirit of celebration into a product shaped by two distinct forms. For those marking Diwali or looking for a considered gift, the limited edition places the experience of sharing a bottle at the intersection of flavour, design and occasion.
