Introducing: Baby Rose

Born in Washington D.C. and raised in Fayetteville, NC, upcoming singer/songwriter and producer named Baby Rose has recently been making waves with her recent debut album To Myself. Enriched with a timeless sound and tone, Baby Rose is the voice we've been missing. Having had early co-signs from the likes of SZA, J. Cole and Kehlani she has also featured on Dreamville's Revenge Of Dreamers III compilation as well as being the opening act for Ari Lennox's Shea Butter Baby tour and much more. Drawing from artist's such as Nina Simone, Carole King, Donnie Hathaway, and Stevie Wonder the texture of her tone vocally really reflects this - rich, soulful, raw and rare in today's sound.

Baby Rose released a project back in 2017 entitled From Dusk Till Dawn, this year following up from that she has released her debut album To Myself. This album is based around a breakup and her personal self growth journey whilst going through that. The album is 10 tracks long and has no features allowing Baby Rose to really showcase herself artistically. In an interview with Complex Baby Rose stated "All of these emotions from my break up are pouring through in real time. It’s something that I’ve always admired about artist that I look up to like Nina Simone, Carole King, Donnie Hathaway, and Stevie Wonder. They were very present and were able to articulate the mundane in a way that was captivating. Not just sing about, “Oh I love this person,” “Oh I hate this person,” but take the specific space and time that they’re in and really expound upon it". Taking inspiration from L.A. and Atlanta where she is now based, this album wasn't made up from well-known and established producers, instead Baby Rose and her friends worked together and put this album together. Being a producer herself, she was able to produce many of the tracks featured on To Myself. One of my personal favourites is track No.6 All To Myself, which you can watch the visuals for below. Made up from pure, raw and real emotion, Baby Rose has the ability to draw you in as if you were feeling her pain, her authenticity artistically is insane.
