Goldlink-Diaspora

The second album of Goldlink, ‘Diaspora’, brings various different sounds and influences that are not just secluded to his home of Washington DC, but tries to bridge the gap between RnB, Rap, Afrobeats, Reggae and even mainstream pop music. In this project, you can hear and almost feel the diversity in the sounds within each track. This 14 track long album contains an array of features that interconnects different sounds from numerous countries in order to make this album a journey across the world.

Throughout the whole project GoldLink displays his versatility to be able to adapt to every sound, whether it was with Pusha T on the track ‘Cokewhite’ where trap rap comes in or with Wiz Kid on the track ‘No lie’ as well as ‘Zulu Screams’ with Maleek Berry and Bibi Bourelly, which brought the African vibe to album which would undoubtedly appease fans of afrobeat artists such as Wiz Kid. ‘Days Like This’ with Khalid, which was one the best tracks on the album brought the RnB element to the album. With Khalid’s vocals and GoldLink’s unique sound it was bound to be one of the best tracks on the album. Tyler the creator and Jay Prince both appear in 'U say' which creates this party vibe and certainly looks like a track for the summer.

GoldLink does not just stop there as he even goes as far as bringing a Hong Kong rapper Jackson Wang and Lil Nei on the track ‘Rumble’. This collaboration raised a few eyebrows, however, it produced one of the best sounding tracks on the album with Goldlink’s taking us back to DMV with raw flow on the banging bass along with Jackson Wang who adapts seamlessly with his own flow on the track. A Latin American vibe is also present in the album with the track ‘Spanish Song’ ft WaveIQ GoldLinks ability to feel at home with any sound exemplifies his resounding talent.

To sum this all up, Goldlink has taken us around the globe, experiencing diverse sounds from regions in the world but always adding a bit of his community which makes this album worth a listen as it Goldlink really expands his horizons leaves his comfort zone which is always a huge risks but it ultimately pays off.
