Fred Again and Friends Assemble To Raise The Roof Of Ally Pally

On the eve of Fred Again dropping USB into the world, he starts his London run of shows at the legendary Ally Pally with a stellar line-up of guests to help him make these shows ones you won’t forget.

If you are one of the lucky ones to grab yourself a ticket, then make sure you bring your A Game to the venue as the show approximately started at 5:30pm and ended just before 11. I couldn’t make the start of the show, but I did get there around 7 which gave me plenty of time. All though apparently, I did miss Katy B’s ‘On a Mission’ being played (I don’t want to talk about that). However, one thing is for sure, Fred Again and friends are going to be dropping back-to-back bangers, and the crowd were right there with them in soaking up the energy and raving till their hearts content. 

The night was electric throughout, with punters embroiled in the star power that Fred has accumulated with a quiet charisma shining, paired with his genuine appreciation for the crowd. A rumbling anticipation swept the audience when tracks were getting mixed and merged seamlessly as people were eagerly awaiting the next song to explode into the venue. The show had something for everyone, and for me I was able to get wrapped up in a nostalgia that took me back to my earlier raving days. One of my early highlights of the evening was when he played ‘When the Sun Goes Down’ by Arctic Monkeys. This took me by surprise but a welcome surprise at that, and from then on, I knew the evening was in safe hands.

Throughout the show, his guest performers would grace the stage, and it really felt that Fred and each one of the live performers had a palpable synergy which resonated with the audience and created an atmosphere of exhilaration. 

The evening charged with an undeniable force that allowed the audience to forget the worries of the week at the door and get wrapped up in an undeniable feeling of togetherness, that only a truly skilled DJ and producer can pull off. Some more personal highlights for me were when Headie One stepped up to perform ‘Smoke’, ‘Back to Basics’ and ‘Ain’t It Different’ which sent the whole crowd, including myself in a frenzy. Other crowd favourites of course included ‘adore u’, ‘Jungle’, ‘Rumble’, the list goes on. 

Towards the end of the show, the incomparable Ezra Collective took to the stage to perform ‘Beto’s Horns’ (The Ezra Collective remix) with such passion, joy and jubilation, that once again transcended into the crowd to produce a feeling of unity that every artist should strive for in their shows.

The penultimate track saw Jamie T step onto mic duties to perform their recently released single ‘Lights Burn Dimmer’ like a triumphant roar soaring through the venue that kept the momentum going. The night culminated with ‘Delilah (pull me out of this)’ giving the fans one last burst of energy to carry on dancing until the very last second.

The show couldn’t have gone any better for Fred Again and the fans who were treated to an evening of eclectic music throughout, that holds so many memories for people and allowed for memories to be built during the evening. A true master of his craft, Fred Again really knows how to put on a brilliant show.
