First Listen: Bellah and Destin Conrad on ‘Typical’

From the very first note, UK R&B songstress Bellah’s new single, ‘Typical' featuring Tampa-native Destin Conrad announces itself with effortless confidence. Teaming up with Destin Conrad, the track is a sultry, intoxicating blend of warmth, intimacy, and late-night allure. ‘Typical’ captures the heat and subtle tension of a steamy night between two lovers, layered with the faintest touch of toxicity, while Bellah and Conrad glide over the production with seamless chemistry that feels completely natural.

Shot in the low-lit haze of a London nightclub by director Ray Fiasco, the accompanying video mirrors the track’s moody, immersive energy, letting every glance, melody, and beat breathe. Following her return with Smoov’ and ‘Boothang Bootcamp’, Bellah proves that her evolution as a UK R&B talent is unstoppable, whether equally at home, on the stage, or in the spotlight. ‘Typical’ doesn’t just showcase her voice, but marks a pivotal moment in her new run that 2026 has seen and is welcoming, affirming her artistry and hinting at a year full of bold steps, standout releases, and collaborations that command attention.

What does “Typical” mean to you in this chapter of your life — and who or what were you pushing back against when you wrote it

Honestly, this song was written in complete flow state. I can assign it a meaning now, or maybe I can understand it better now. But yeah, this era is about growth. Adultsville was about arriving at adulthood and this is a continuation of the journey. Long Answer short is..I’m grown and a little bit sexy now

There’s a sense of self-awareness in the title alone. Were you embracing something ‘typical,’ or calling it out

It’s both. You know that feeling when you’re doing something you’re not supposed to be and you have no intention of stopping. I think self-awareness is the perfect phrase. You know, at least do with your chest.

How did you want the listener to feel by the end of the track — understood, challenged, comforted, or unsettled

First of all, I want them to find the nearest dark corner and wine up themselves. But when they come back to their senses, I guess I want them to feel understood. Like we all make bad decisions and we’re all enjoying some of our bad decisions.

Sonically, how does Destin's voice compliment this track better than anyone else's? We wrote it together, so I guess it’s tailor made to suit him. Some songs are just created for the purpose of the people who created it to share.

If someone hears “Typical” and sees themselves in it, what do you hope they take away from that recognition?

I see you. You see you. I’m not gonna judge you, if you don’t judge me. Let’s make our bad decisions in peace. We will cross the consequences bridge when we get there.
