ETRO x wavvyboi: The Ultimate Fusion of Style and Swagger for Spring/Summer 2024

In this exclusive collection, we were granted the privilege of experiencing the front-row view. wavvyboi, embodying the essence of ETRO's distinctive style, accompanied us on a journey through the creative evolution of Marco De Vincenzo. As we delved into his past and present, a captivating juxtaposition unfolded within the collection. We witnessed the fusion of silk blouses with wide, shapeless trousers, and swirling dresses adorned with chunky knits. The meticulous craftsmanship and precise tailoring played a pivotal role in shaping the timeless silhouettes, evoking the remnants of ETRO's rich archaeological heritage.

Following the show, wavvyboi engaged in a warm encounter with the esteemed creative director of the brand, Marco de Vincenzo, extending warm congratulations on the remarkable new collection. During their interaction, they delved into the profound allegorical inspiration that guided Vincenzo's creative process. This inspiration emanated from a heartfelt journey back to his roots, specifically his hometown of Messina in Sicily. It was during this voyage that Vincenzo serendipitously stumbled upon a remarkable treasure—a seventeenth-century compilation titled Cesare Ripa's Iconology. Bursting with captivating allegorical imagery, this repertoire vividly portrayed virtues, qualities, and vices, serving as a wellspring of inspiration for the collection.

Every piece in this collection surpassed the boundaries of mere colour and texture exploration. Cravatteria and paisley themes paid homage to the brand's Milanese roots, while Vincenzo skilfully interwove his own allegorical narrative into ETRO's fabric. This was exemplified by intricate tapestries adorning hoodies and capes, each design carrying deep meaning and significance. Symbolism continued to flow throughout the rest of the collection, beautifully integrated into the fabric of duplicitous coats, cardigans, football shirts, sparkling shirts, Bermuda’s, and blazers.
