Elli Ingram Teams Up With Mahalia For 'Fools Gold' And Announces Sophomore Album

Updated: Mar 31, 2023

Sensuous by nature, soulstress Elli Ingram's vocals are languid as she addresses her dissatisfaction with the current routine of her relationship on ‘Fool’s Gold’.

Not quite seeing eye to eye on the direction of the relationship she flags a lack of attention and urges meaningful gestures. The songstress sings soulfully “it don’t mean shit if you don’t kiss my lips babe it don’t mean shit if you don’t hold my hips.”

Low humming synths paired with percussion-based production keep the jazz-influenced rhythm to the beat, complimenting Ellie’s raspy vocals. Mahalia, featuring on the track helps to blur the lines between the genres by adding an airy R&B sway to the track.

Ellie shares: This is a special one. My first ever feature, produced by the og’s Felix & Aston with the vocals of Queen Mahalia. It feels empowering to share this moment with May and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it and hopefully feel the same.

Her second release of 2023 comes after she just completed live performances across Europe that included shows in Amsterdam, London & Paris with her all-female band.

Following up from ‘Growing Pains’ this new direction in terms of her music shows that Elli has matured and is starting to get more personal.

This also hints that the Brighton-born singer’s forthcoming sophomore album Bad Behaviour, scheduled for an early May release via Elli’s imprint Promoting Independent Newcomers or PINC for short will follow the same trend.
