Canadian R&B crooner Daniel Caesar has unveiled ‘Have A Baby (With Me)’, the lead single off his forthcoming album Son of Spergy, out later this year.

Lyrically, the song wrestles with the realisation that the connection he once had with his partner is at the end of the road. However, his love is still so strong that Daniel makes a vulnerable and heartbreaking plea, to nurture what they once had in the form of having a baby together.

Having recently collaborated with artists such as Tyler the Creator, Blood Orange and Justin Bieber, Daniel is now gearing up to release his highly anticipated fourth studio album via Republic Records. With such a strong catalogue of music behind him, Daniel is consistently raising the bar for himself and the R&B genre, and this song is proof of that.

‘Have A Baby (With Me)’ is a soft surrender wrapped in love, regret, desire and hope, creating a raw tension that adds a powerful dynamic to Daniel’s repertoire as vocally, Daniel never overexerts himself on the track which adds an extra layer to the message he is conveying.

His vocals soft throughout, guided by a quiet conviction that oozes out of his voice. This seems to mirror the sentiment of not wanting to scare his lover away, as well as having belief that the bond they shared is worthy of creating a tangible form as proof of their once flourishing love.

The delicate piano backdrop allows his vulnerability to shine through and really sing from his soul, as his desperate plea becomes laced with the racing drum of his heartbeat, slowly soaring into a crackling ache of desire and desperation.

The outro contains a well-placed sample of Jamaican artist Sizzla’s ‘Woman I Need You’, once again proving that Daniel is a true master of his craft, and no choice made is without careful precision and meticulousness.
