Cktrl Teases His Upcoming EP 'Yield' Through The Release Of Its Title Track

British musician, multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ cktrl has recently announced the exciting release of his upcoming EP ‘Yield’ and he has put out his latest song with the same title track to tease the imminent project. This body of work arrives on the coattails of the mass successes his 2022 project ‘Zero’ achieved , it included collaborations with GRAMMY-nominated Mereba and anaiis and was met with critical acclaim from well regarded publications and platform such as British Vogue, Dazed, CRACK Magazine, Resident Advisor, NOTION, Harper's Bazaar and ES Magazine.

‘Yield’ can be seen to be a minimalist piece of modal jazz recalling Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Simultaneously fusing elements from the traditions of classical and baroque music.

Earthy and atmospheric coos build to intermittent peaks throughout ‘Yield’ ; with the steady backdrop of the saxophone’s oscillating pitches being carefully interwoven also, to create a symphony of both calm and stillness. Authentic sounds of nature feature sporadically as the emphasis on imagery is stamped and honed as the piece reaches its culmination.

“This song gave me the basis of the project. It was the starting point of everything I wanted to explore. The process was more about listening than creating, as I had to find a grounding in order to know what I needed to strip away as the layers are what make the song emphasize a feeling”
