Champion Steps Back onto the Field with MLB for a Heritage Driven FW26 Collection

Sport and fashion have never existed in separate worlds, but few partnerships feel as authentic as Champion's return to Major League Baseball. For Fall Winter 2026, the sportswear pioneer reunites with MLB, revisiting one of the relationships that helped shape American sportswear while reimagining it for a generation that increasingly looks to vintage athletics for inspiration.

Rather than simply reviving team merchandise, the collection taps into a wider shift happening across menswear. Baseball jerseys, varsity jackets and athletic silhouettes have steadily become wardrobe staples, moving beyond stadiums and into everyday street style. Champion understands that heritage carries weight, and this latest release feels rooted in the brand's own history rather than chasing nostalgia for nostalgia's sake.

Split across two distinct collections, the release balances modern sportswear with archival craftsmanship.

The core MLB Collection centres on the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox, blending technical fabrics with relaxed silhouettes.

Water repellent crinkle polyamide tracksuits sit alongside heavyweight jersey T shirts, rugby inspired polos and loose fitting overshirts that feel equally suited to city streets as they do weekend wear.

The styling reflects where menswear continues to head. Layered hoodies beneath rugby shirts, oversized baseball shorts paired with workwear boots and lightweight overshirts worn open over quarter zip sweatshirts all point towards a more relaxed approach to dressing that values versatility over rigid styling rules.

Looking through the campaign, what stands out is its restraint. Rather than relying on loud graphics or overt branding, Champion allows the silhouettes and team iconography to do the talking. The familiar Yankees insignia or White Sox logo feels less like sports merchandise and more like an established part of contemporary fashion.

The premium Cooperstown Collection moves even further into heritage territory.

Drawing inspiration from the legendary Brooklyn Dodgers and the Bronx Bombers, each garment undergoes a specialised vintage washing process designed to recreate the appearance of clothing that has been worn and loved for years.

Champion's signature Reverse Weave fleece returns alongside heavyweight jersey fabrics, while embroidered varsity jackets celebrate the founding years of two of baseball's most iconic franchises.

It is this attention to detail that elevates the collaboration beyond licensed apparel. The worn textures, substantial fabrics and subtle distressing speak directly to the current appetite for clothing that feels authentic from day one.

There is also a wider conversation taking place here. Vintage sportswear continues to influence everything from luxury fashion to independent labels, with archival jerseys, collegiate knitwear and classic athletic branding remaining fixtures across resale platforms and street style alike. Champion is not borrowing from that movement; it helped create it.

That authenticity gives the collection a confidence many collaborations struggle to achieve. Instead of reinventing itself, Champion simply revisits the foundations that made it relevant in the first place.

As heritage dressing continues to define menswear, the return of Champion and MLB feels less like a comeback and more like a reminder that the best sportswear rarely goes out of style. It simply finds a new generation ready to wear it.
