Benzz Samples The Nostalgic Track 'Destination Calabria' On New Single 'Je'Mappelle'

West London’s Benzz is quickly becoming a leader in the next gen Drill movement, after he releases his anticipated single ‘Je’Mappelle’. The song has already had multiple viral moments on TikTok generating excitement amongst his evolving fanbase.

Directed by Marta Strauss who has previously worked with Tion Wayne, Millionz and Ms Banks. The video reflects high energy scenes shot locally to Benzz in Ladbroke Groove, layered with on screen lyrics and curated emojis. It’s creatively shot to take us on a journey from the streets of Ladbroke Grove hanging to having landmarks like Big Ben and The Eiffel Tower in the background. The video is currently almost at 200K on Youtube and is trending #9.

Joining the latest trend of sample culture, Benzz understood the assignment, Only 18-years-old, Benzz balances studies with a flourishing music career whilst prioritising a private life, warranting his anonymous masked profile.

Orginally snippets of ‘Je’Mappelle’ surfaced and quickly accumulated over 5M views on TikTok before he even announced a release date. His formative years were spent playing football for Queens Park Rangers cultivating his drive and ambition from an early age before more recently switching his focus to music.

The track is led by the famous ‘Destination Calabria’ melody, arguably one the biggest dance tracks of the early 2000’s with it’s catchy beat. The rapper has to overcome ongoing battles with two other artists for the sample, the release represents a triumph for Benzz in more ways than one.

Benzz is always proudly representing his Moroccan heritage and is seen to do so holding the Moroccan flag in the music video. The West Londoner sees the importance of having an insight into two different cultures, encouraging the diversity of his musical influences. Hoping to avoid any sonic boundaries, his forthcoming music is set to reveal a range of genres exploring more personal themes of life’s struggles and introspectiveness.
