Adidas x Wales Bonner New Collection Is Inspired by City Life & Escapism

London-based designer Grace Wales Bonner has once again collaborated with Adidas on the return of their infamous sneaker collection. Since 2020, the British Menswear Designer of the Year (2024) winner has been breaking the footwear game with sold-out leopard pony hair and silver chrome styles of the iconic long tongue shoe. Grace returns with a more daring silhouette and clothing inspired by port towns to extend the hype.

Taking the “essence of light” as a source to draw from, Wales Bonner contrasts both elements of city life and natural beauty to highlight the unison between both through the collection from her perspective. The long-awaited collaboration with lifestyle brand Adidas feels like an extension to the brand’s line now rather than another collection with a contemporary menswear designer.

With its wide-ranging customer base and worldwide recognition, adidas x Wales Bonner reigns in a such a strong following that the shoes are almost impossible to get your hands on after their release. Now reselling for ten times the original price online, the older products have still managed to maintain a lasting appeal and longevity in style.

Introducing the new style of sneaker the ‘Karintha’, a brown suede trainer covered in silver sequins and of course, featuring the signature three stripes. Also in the collection are summer staples such as the black sliders, crochet t-shirt and red polo top. A standout piece is the chocolate brown leather bowling bag , adding an element of functional design with a menswear touch to the shape, characterising both brands in a sporty and contemporary light.

The new collection sees cultural influences from Wales Bonner’s strong African design elements, with the wearability and comfort of Adidas’ sports and leisure wear product line.
