The multi-part documentary-series comes from Clarence "Coodie" Simmons and Chike Ozah, who co-directed Kanye West's 2003 'Through The Wire' and the third version of 'Jesus Walks'. West will not be creatively involved within the production of the documentary but he had given his support by allowing himself to be filmed by Simmons and Ozah for 21 years. Their company Creative Control have will also be producing the Yeezy documentary with TIME studios.

The series will also show West's mother's impact that she had on her son, as well as her unfortunate death. It will also show his evolution throughout the years, his move towards the fashion industry and also, his presidential run in 2020.
