Tiana Major9 Live at Rough Trade East

British Caribbean artist TianaMajor9 delivered an intimate, emotionally rich performance at Rough Trade East London earlier this week.

The performance is as an exclusive live showcase and signing session ahead of her forthcoming debut album, November Scorpio.

From the moment she stepped on stage, the atmosphere felt undeniably sultry and special. With the set stripped back and performed entirely acoustically, Tiana’s voice took centre stage. Warm, controlled and deeply vulnerable - she opened with her 2020 hit “Same Space,” a track that explores the complexities of co-dependency: knowing a relationship is unhealthy, yet choosing to remain.

The set then moved into new territory with “Alone,” a song that clearly holds deep personal significance for the artist. Its sultry, Laila Hathaway-esque phrasing immediately drew the room in, setting an emotional tone that lingered throughout the performance.

Tiana’s storytelling between songs added further depth. Introducing “Money,” she reflected on her experiences navigating the music industry: fun and freeing at times, but often confusing - framing money as a personified female presence that has shaped her journey.

Another standout moment came in a duet with Yebba off the project called “Always,” offering a nostalgic nod to earlier chapters of her career.

Dressed in a Nicholas Daly-inspired peak cap, polo top and jeans, her styling mirrored the relaxed, grounded energy of the night. A GRAMMY-nominated artist once signed to a major label, Major9 now stands confidently as an independent voice within UK R&B and neo-soul and this performance felt like a quiet yet powerful statement of artistic clarity.

The evening closed with palpable anticipation surrounding November Scorpio, leaving the audience applauding after the final note faded.
