The Collection With West African Architecture! Labrum X Converse

Labrum was created in 2014 by Dumbuya out of a love for British tailoring and West African architecture. Labrum seeks to close the divide between Western and West African society by sharing the untold stories of West Africa. The need to reposition the conversation around immigrants in the West runs through the brand.

AW21 collection at Labrum London, 'St Giles Blackbird,' continues to inspire fresh discussions about diversity, representation, and youth development - all areas where change is desperately needed today. The exhibition, which made its debut at London Fashion Week, is a tribute to the St Giles Blackbirds, a group of black people made up of sailors, soldiers, and former slaves who settled in England in the late 1700s and were called the "black poor" before being dispassionately transported to Sierra Leone.

As part of their All Star Projects initiative, Converse is supporting Labrum's AW21 London Fashion Week show, expanding on their current All Star partnership that started in 2019.

Converse sponsored a job placement for a studio manager at Labrum to promote the AW21 exhibition, and the two brands collaborated in October 2020 to create more opportunities for young London talent in the creative sector. In addition to enhancing access to London's creative industry,Converse will be on hand to help the runway show with the famous Chuck Taylor 70 in the ‘dark soba' seasonal colorway, which will be featured during the show.
