Take More Photos Explores ‘The Black British Experience' For Black History Month

Since Take More Photos inception in 2018, the IG page turned visual arts agency has focused on developing and facilitating the creation of content from the brightest minds for the best platforms, and for Black History Month, they’ve done just that.

Collaborating with WingStop UK, 12 inspiring creatives feature in their 5 minute video exploring 'The Black British Experience'.

Directed by Kris Declan, he combines his skill with New Wave’s very own Derrick Odafi’s creative vision to give the floor to some of Britain’s most talented Black creatives as they discuss the meaning and complexities of Black Britishness. Being Black and British as a concept has always been something tenuous due to the strong connection many of us have with our homelands; the familiarity of both ethnic and national identity has always caused a debate between what it truly means to be a Black Briton. Take More Photos decides to explore this interesting dynamic through

a set of interviews and photos shot by g.hass focusing on Blackness, pride and representation.

The set design adds a comfortable essence of familiarity through its recreation of your typical Black British household living room. As the creatives recount their black childhood icons, challenges that come with being Black British alongside personal and cultural moments that have made them proud, the room connects us to their memories as well as our own.

Speaking of experiencing landmark cultural moments such as the Brixton riots to finding places here they could finally feel safer in their blackness such as the basketball court, Take More Photos gives us an insight into the moments that have shaped not only them, but Black Britons as a demographic and certainly will shape the future Black identity in Britain for years to come.
