Syd Goes Through Heartbreak On Her New single ‘GMFU’

ree

The good times never last as Syd learns as she vents and gives hell to an ex-partner on her latest offering ‘GMFU’ despite still loving them.

Standing for Got Me Fucked Up, Syd, in the beginning of the song, warmly reminisces on the traits that she loves about her partner, and the loyalty that was commanded from her.

The GRAMMY award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, and engineer dumps on her partner’s inability to communicate effectively, and the feelings of being taken for granted. With a breathless approach she styles, “You don’t look that cute when you mad, Pull us over before we crash/What you hiding behind that mask? All I wanted was to get this cash. However, despite the nonchalant demeanour, she cannot hide either the frustration, hurt or love that still remains.

Released via Free Lunch/Warner Records, the track was produced by Rodney Jerkins, who utilises a funky organ melody which is looped throughout the track, providing a thrilling and grungy elements to the drums and the notes of Raphael Saadiq on bass as strums chord patterns adding depth,

She released her solo debut Fin in 2017 before following it up with Hive Mind, the critically acclaimed fourth album from her band THE INTERNET, which earned a GRAMMY win.

She has also recently finished touring with Billie Eilish and is set to join Renee Rapp for fall US dates.
