Syd Brings BEARD to Life at Islington Assembly Hall

Syd graced Islington Assembly Hall, London, on the night of Tuesday 1st September. As part of her BEARD tour, Syd celebrated what she described as her “first official sold-out London show”. The hall filled with fans as the DJ readied the crowd before Syd graced them with her presence.

The performance began with ‘2 Many Days’, a song that immediately drew the crowd in under the blue and red lights flashing across the dark hall. Fans looked on from the stalls and balcony, singing back as the show began. Alongside songs from BEARD, including ‘Always Be Mine’, ‘Jasmin 17’, ‘Callin’ and ‘GMFU’, Syd also went back in time, offering fans a selection of older songs from throughout her career.

At this point, the energy picked up as fans in the crowd relished the opportunity to take a trip down memory lane. From the moment Syd began to sing ‘No Looking Back’, the atmosphere shifted. She followed with ‘Drown In It’ before moving into ‘Body’, giving fans the chance to revisit some of the songs that had soundtracked earlier stages of her career.

Syd’s connection with the crowd continued throughout the night. At one point, she appeared to acknowledge a fan celebrating their birthday, performing ‘Birthday’ and singing, “Can I call you on your birthday/ Just to make sure that you’re, okay?” The moment added a personal touch to an already intimate performance.

‘Fast Car/You’re The One’ brought another moment of unity, with the crowd clapping along in unison as Syd sang, “And I can’t just walk away / Even though I know you’re trouble, babe.” Later, the lyrics “Tell ‘em you’re my girl / And anything you want is yours” and “I got you” echoed through the room, with fans singing the words back to her.

As the night drew to a close, Syd ended the performance with ‘AnyTime’, bringing the sold-out London show to its conclusion.
