Think the late D’Angelo. Think SIR, think warm summer days and the sweetness of honey, and that’s what St. Panther’s newest soulful offering ‘The Deal’ is all about.

It can be easy to mistake St. Panther or Dani Bojorges-Giraldo's ‘The Deal’ as only being about a bittersweet love song; maybe it’s in the tone or the gentle arrangement, but it’s way more than that, it’s also political as the Los Angeles-based Mexican/Colombian artist raises awareness with the world.

St. Panther delivers a soft R&B record that confesses love, gentleness and admiration whilst lightly raising that the notion of their feelings being everlasting, whilst simultaneously commenting about the wider picture.

On the new single, St. Panther said: “Now I’m not sure if it’s always right to, but I tend to put music where prolonged silences live.

“I’m not sure why it’s so hard to say what sometimes only music can, but in this case I wish someone had known me better and wanted to write a song like Dido’s ‘White Flag’ shortly afterward, a song that said - if nothing else - my love was true.”

Produced with a smooth bass line and a melodic piano arrangement which provides elements of jazz, there is a timeless feel to the mood of the song, led by St. Panther’s livewire soulful approach against trippy synths rifts as they slows it down, taking pleasure in being in the moment and providing a comfort that you didn’t even know you needed due to her pure certainty.

The track can be found they's forthcoming project, Strange World, an EP which explores the distinct sound of soulful modern pop and is set to be released in early November. This will be their first release with the art-forward label drink sum wtr and first project since their debut EP These Days released in 2020.

A live performance video accompanies the track, featuring various long-time collaborators, including the previously mentioned EP’s co-producer, McClenney.

Regarding the EP, St. Panther remarked: “It’s been highly impactful–to say the absolute least–to witness the world in the state it’s in today.

“In so many lyrics and melodies, I’m using this set of songs as a method of putting certain messages into our ether, intentionally shouting certain things from the rooftops that a friend jokingly said ‘for world peace;’ but this music is meant to activate people in some way to meditate about our relationship to each other, which feels like a good use for music right now.”
