South London Songstress Leiyah Kick Starts the Year with Sultry New Single 'Reasons'

'You give me that reason / To leave the club early.'

Whilst Leiyah's love interest may give her a reason to leave the club early, you'd definitely want to stick around to hear this one play. Gaining support from the likes of Capital Xtra and Kiss FM, the South London songstress kicks off the year with this intoxicating new jam.

Throwing things back to the pandemic days where physical connection was seldom available, 'Reasons' is a hypnotic joint that explores infatuation with a fellow love interest. We've all had that one person whose attention we just can't get enough of. They somehow handle those darker days and bring out your inner glow.

Speaking on the release Leiyah says, 'Reasons was a song I bought to life that I wrote during the lockdown, it was a plea for my lack of physical connection during the pandemic.'

Teetering a line between dark and light 'Reasons' features thudding production courtesy of Rizmadeit. Leiyah's rich and brooding vocals take centre stage, building up to a pop-tinged chorus. Whilst Leiyah makes her intentions clear that she no longer wishes to spend her nights alone, the song ends with throwback vibes by bringing back the fade-out, and listeners very much get the sense that there are still lingering feelings there.

Hailing from Croydon, South London, 'Reasons' marks the end of a one year hiatus for the singer, who honed her talent at The BRIT School. It's clear that musical talent is innate in her family; her late uncle Earl 'WYA' Lindo was an original member of Bob Marley and The Wailers, her father is a DJ and she also holds two music industry related degrees.

With a sound that is influenced by the music of her childhood - think Aaliyah, Mary J Blige Sade but also 70s & 80s Soul Music, Grime and Hip-hop - Leiyah went on to share her debut album 'Souls of September' back in 2019. Having released a string of singles since, Leiyah is now gearing up for a year of unmissable music, kick starting with 'Reasons'.
