Skepta announces his return with new album The Fork and Knife, releasing on the 6th of November. It is a record fully rooted in capturing the energy and culture of contemporary Britain, through a lens which has not been explored before.

Skepta is one of the most influential figures in global rap, a multi-awards winning artist and a defining force in the evolution of British grime.

His career has spanned across two decades, and he continues to push the boundaries of music and of other forms of creativity. In fashion, he has founded MAINS, bringing together his British and Nigerian influences to create a distinctive visual language.

This album has been shaped by the decades that Skepta has spent immersed in rave spaces and clubs, and the final product encapsulates exactly that. A blend and movement between house, jungle, electronic music and garage all centred around the masterful lyricism and production by Skepta himself, the album places him at the centre of the rap scene and as a figure not afraid to push the sound forward.

The heart of the album is his identity. An exploration of what it means to be both British and Nigerian, and to exist within these two cultures. He does not view his diaspora through a lens of anguish or sadness, but instead embraces it as a source of strength. It is this very identity which carries through The Fork and Knife, and is a superpower which has informed his creativity.

The visual world of this new album is no less experimentation. It draws on 1980s Nigerian-British imagery, documentary realism and football culture, a merging of the Windrush generation's history with the edge of modern London.

The anticipation of this album is telling of Skepta's renowned identity, and we can guarantee the album will achieve exactly what we all expect.
