ShaSimone Returns With Double Offering ‘Let Go’ And ‘Mob Ties’

ShaSimone returns with a double offering ‘Let Go’ and ‘Mob Ties’ to mark a new start for the rapper and to speak on her troubles and vent.

‘Let Go’ is all about letting go of all of the negative emotions and anger of the past. It provides an insight into the difficult trying times and uncomfortable situations she experienced last year allowing Sha space to speak it into the wind and let it carry.

This allows us to meet her at a place of distance and reflection as she acknowledges the hurt but won’t allow herself to be stilled by it. Complex relationships are addressed, betrayals, the temporality of feeling and uncertainty of the future are all visited. It’s also the first time we hear the Hackney born British- Ghanian rapper sing on a track showing off her vocal range, with honesty and vulnerability.

She raps with elegance, on the beat produced by JB Made It to convey her verse with firmness and authority, lines like “my enemies see the glory they can’t ignore me/they want to take me out like date night / if I pull up to your crib then I’m safe night / most of my biggest haters we were mad tight delivered with excellent control.

On ‘Mob Ties’, produced by Harry Jay it is a lot more experimental in terms of production. Quietly played electronic elements allow ShaSimone’s voice to be prominent and powerful cutting through the trap instrumentation with high energy and cockiness.

Darting away from the more intimate subject matter, she playfully demonstrates her ability as lyrists by musing on record label days, philosophy and a range of topics, having fun as she shows off her skill.
