SHAMIM is a Hopeless Romantic in New Single "U R ME"

Surfing off the success of her previous two singles Option & Priority and Intentional, British-Ugandan rising songstress SHAMIM has released new sultry and poetic single U R ME. Written by Shamim and produced by Trini sound wizard Jaydot (Broken Promises by Summer Walker), it starts off with a lush and intimate piece of poetry delivered by SHAMIM herself, then transitions into Jaydot’s slick production layered underneath Shamim’s pleasant vocals.

The single comes accompanied with an equally sensual music video; shot In Sadler Wells Theatre and the Docklands Riverside, it features SHAMIM and her partner cuffed and cosy, with the lyrics’ messages of passionate love and lust lyrics being echoed through the visuals. Directed by Prince Mensah, with further credits to Mawiya Williams and Suma Nako, the music video brings to life the song’s tellings of delicate and unapologetically romantic black love.

“The song is inspired by the feeling of growing in love with someone. The song is about the power of love. As love is the highest frequency, it is an exceptional phenomenon that every human being craves but can also breed so much pain. Nonetheless we must remain open and vulnerable to the idea because love is the greatest gift of them all.
