Sasha Keable Is Striking Back With Latest, Fiery Single ‘Act Right’

British-Colombian singer Sasha Keable gives us another good Friday with her newest single, ‘Act Right’.

Having teased the almost-three-minute-long track across her socials since February (days shy of Valentine's Day, we might add), and garnering over 1.4 million views on TikTok, the confronting, punchy but playfully soulful R&B track is finally here.

Like many of her tracks, they feel like, or simply are, a call to action, whether internally or externally – and this one feels the most direct. “If you wanted to, you would / act right / act like / you know,” she pleads between bluesy scats and riveting riffs to a swinging beat and sultry horns.

“The process of writing this project was very much rooted in betrayal and heartbreak; it's a reflection on what it meant to lose people that once meant so much to me and how I navigated those feelings and emotions,” she explains. “I had to go back to the drawing board and attempt to find myself and what made me feel again after living my life for others for what felt like an eternity. ‘Act Right’ is a plea to the people who did me wrong to fix up and attempt to see the wrong in what they did, whilst simultaneously attempting to find the love within myself that I so generously gave away to those people that didn’t deserve it.”

We’re used to that raw honesty and directness from the soulstress, with Keable finding the most harmonious ways to convey the most convicting of feelings or requests, particularly in love – and she strikes again on this track. Paired with her irrefutably charming wit and lyricism, ‘Act Right’ reinstates the tone of her upcoming, highly anticipated album, which appears to cut right to the core of lovers everywhere.

Enlisting the help of producer and collaborator Ettienne aka JV, the pair, who worked together on her single, ‘Take Your Time’, are building up to a dramatic sonic and emotional crescendo that is sure to bubble up all the rhythm and all the blues.
