Kindly invited to experience Rock in Rio Lisbon 2026 for the first time, New Wave was able to spend two days soaking up the sunshine and enjoying an impressive line-up. With incredible weather, a buzzing atmosphere and performances spanning multiple genres, the weekend perfectly showcased why Rock in Rio remains one of Europe's premier music festivals that has something for everyone.

This year's edition welcomed approximately 330,000 attendees across four days, making it the largest and most internationally attended Rock in Rio Lisbon in the festival's history. Across four stages, more than 60 artists delivered over 52 hours of live performances, offering something for every type of music fan. The festival also marked a successful new chapter at Parque Tejo, now home to Rock in Rio Lisbon.

Celebrating rock heritage, Cyndi Lauper reminded the audience why her catalogue has stood the test of time, effortlessly balancing powerful vocals with infectious charisma. Sir Rod Stewart followed with a career-spanning performance packed with classic hits that had generations of fans singing along. The festival also paid tribute to Portugal's own rock legacy, with iconic band Xutos & Pontapés presenting their exclusive Classe de 79 show alongside a host of special guests, celebrating the enduring influence of Portuguese rock music.

Our weekend was an eclectic mix of artists that reflected Rock in Rio's genre-spanning identity. Shaggy brought infectious energy and plenty of nostalgia with a hit-filled set, while Afrobeats superstar Rema had the crowd dancing from start to finish. UK rapper Central Cee continued the momentum with one of the weekend's standout performances, before 21 Savage closed the night with a polished headline set that tended to the rap heads and younger generation.

Rock in Rio Lisbon continues to prove that it is far more than a music festival. Its ability to bring together legendary performers, today's biggest stars and fans from around the world creates a truly unique experience. After an unforgettable weekend of live music, it's easy to see why the festival continues to grow in both scale and international reputation.
