North London singer-songwriter Nippa shares his latest single ‘Reverse’ a smooth contemporary r&b cut that is perfectly positioned in anticipation for the warm days and blue skies that we will begin to enjoy when summer officially begins.
But until then, singing over a futuristic production made up of electronic elements and 808 trap drums Nippa’s voice rises and then floats above the summery soundscape in a fluid motion as he attempts to flirt and charm a love interest.
The sleek track is produced by BenjiFlow and is focused on providing a distinct and unique sound of R&B that is becoming familiar to us.
However, in moments Nippa's bravado and boy-ish nature appear, as demonstrated in the accompanying music video. Directed by The Faces the music video explores the streets of Nigeria for Homecoming Festival and shows Nippa surrounded by his friends as they enjoy themselves and embrace their youth.
Inspired by the likes of R&B, Motown, Gospel and Reggae, and with the aim of exploring his own personal thoughts and experiences as shown by Nippa’s desire to travel the world and reconnect with his Nigerian heritage.
We were first introduced to him via 'Where They At', a silky smooth track that blurred the lines between R&B and street aesthetics as the video was shot on the estate surrounded by his community.
However, before that, he released his debut single 'Squeezin' Ya' in 2019 before following up with two EP's that continued the upstream of his musical development.
It seems like he’s looking to look deeper this year and looking to push on from his sophomore EP, he’s accepted the challenge to push himself further musically. All in a bid to "create timeless music that transcends generations.”
