Nix Northwest Releases Smooth New Offering 'Satan Doesn't Swim'

Taken from his upcoming debut album Xin's Disappearance, rapper, producer and multi-instrumentalist Nix Northwest unveiled yet another polished single 'Satan Doesn't Swim'; a dream-like track that draws elements of jazz and samba.

Following up on his first single "The Occasional L" that came after his debut EP Life's A Bitch, I Just Need An Early Night, to announce his next project, 'Satan Doesn't Swim'' is a slick and perfectly produced number that touches on the sounds of Brazil. Having been a big fan of bossa nova, samba, Brazilian folk and jazz of the 1960s and 70s, Nix Northwest mentioned: “I’ve always loved Brazilian music and have studied it since my teens. A lot hip-hop producers I respect such as Madlib and Pharrell have been heavily influenced by Brazilian music from this era and this is probably where my initial attraction to the genre lay when I first discovered it. João Gilberto, Arthur Verocai, João Donato and Gal Costa are some of my favourite Brazilian musicians and I had them on heavy rotation throughout the writing of the album.”

With the new project following a story and fictional character Xin, who escapes city life in order to free his mind, 'Satan Doesn't Swim' comes as the final track of the album which is an exploration into letting go of your fears, temptations and ego that restrict us in finding love and acceptance within ourselves.
