Nippa's 'Homegrown' EP: His Most Honest Release Yet

Tottenham's international RnB star is ready to spill the most honest lyrics yet on his newest project. Nippa dropped Homegrown today - a 9 track EP of bittersweet soul searching anthems dedicated to those around him. The artist has never been one to soften the edges and his candid and gloriously unfiltered new release confronts both the highs and the hardships in a sensual rhythmic record.

Like any great mix, Nippa has poured what seems to be a self discovery journey of stories into Homegrown featuring hip hop beats laced with his honeyed vocals. Despite the existing reception songs from the EP has already had (referring to Homegrown becoming the official soundtrack to Tottenham HotSpur F.C's 26/27 home and away kit) Nippa is staying humble by; “staying true to who I am and where I'm from, no matter where I end up."

There is a specific swagger spilled across the project Nippa is known for and continues to hypnotise across the world, specifically with his success in the U.S. Tracks like 'Kacey' and 'Talking to the Mirror' bring a nostalgic feeling from the prime days of RnB releases from D'Angelo's and dance track anthems from Common.

The standout track 'Bittersweet' produced by Grammy award winnning artist/producer Kaytranada has the repeat-worthy nature of a number one track. Opening with the chorus, the first few bars start in Kaytranda's signature funk-jazz piano chords hitting hard into Nippa's vocals "Am I too focused / doing too much?" in it's opening chorus giving the production that unmistakable 'Kaytra' bounce.

Nippa's final track on 'I'm Scared to Be Left Alone' preached the nuanced balance of confidence and vulnerability he possesses that draws fans in to connect with his raw sound whilst still being able to sway to the beat. He's been open about what it's taken to get to the final project and the bravery of releasing the EP and it's undoubtedly the most honest we've heard him yet. Beyond relationships and summer situationships, Nippa has a maturity to this project that feels grown. The solo electric guitar melodies and echoed choir vocals bring a different sound to the remaining tracks showing just how versatile Nippa's sound is developing into.

Homegrown has mastered the tension that gives the music its weight, he can sound untouchable one moment and deeply human the next, moving effortlessly between swagger and self-reflection. His newest body of work that feels as hard-earned as it does heartfelt, without losing his magnetic charisma.

The EP brings promise to a rising successful artist open to baring all for great music, connectivity to his fans and raising his own expectations. Nippa wears his ambition loudly, yet never loses sight of where he came from on this EP, channelling his success back into the community that raised him as he continues to bring the celebration someplace homegrown.
