NBA YoungBoy Meets Fan Demands With Surprise Album ‘ML2’

NBA YoungBoy surprises fans with the release of More Leaks 2, continuing the rapper’s remarkable string of success over the past year. Serving as a sequel to the original More Leaks, released in March 2025, the new drop gives official recordings of some of the rapper’s most fan-demanded leaked and unreleased tracks.

The drop of More Leaks 2 follows an exceptional year in the artist’s career. This album comes less than a year after the release of Make America Slime Again (MASA) and the accompanying tour documentary. Amassing over 69 million on-demand streams on the album’s songs, the album set the rapper on an upward trajectory since its release. Only six months ago YoungBoy released Slime Cry, where he delivered an epic 30 track album comprised of the rapper’s signature diaristic, pain rap. Themes of retrospective reflection and a vulnerable retelling of the rapper’s life experiences from the album has bled itself into More Leaks 2.

Anchored around the focal track ‘Calling From Rio’, the album shows YoungBoy’s unafraid creativity through experimental tracks that flow between aggressive deliveries and melodic rhymes. The bluesy, piano-led sound of ‘Calling From Rio’ sets the tone for the raw emotional themes of the album, recalling past experiences that shaped the rapper’s life and career. Production shifts between drill-inspired rhythms, fast paced drum beats to melodic guitar instrumentals. The variety in pace throughout the tracks keep the mixtape moving and listeners engrossed.

The album feels refreshing among some other releases in the rap scene, particularly with the unabashed lyrics from YoungBoy. The verses are packed full of emotion and storytelling, some of which can sometimes feel confusing to piece together exactly what the message is. But the energy and personality YoungBoy brings to each of the tracks make the album feel like an experience, rather than something to fully understand.

More Leaks 2 is packaged with YoungBoy’s creativity in communicating raw experiences and emotional depth. This honesty that the rapper wields in his songs has defined his career. The album has no guest features. All of the tracks are carried through by YoungBoy himself and has given the rapper full freedom to express his vulnerability through his rap.

As More Leaks 2 benchmarks almost exactly one year since the release of MASA, the momentum of NBA YoungBoy shows no signs of halting. The surprise drop of the experimental More Leaks 2 has surely further solidified YoungBoy as one of modern rap’s defining voices.
