Myles Smith’s “Nice to Meet You”: The Focus Track for His Latest EP 'A Minute..'

Myles Smith is back with his latest track, “Nice to Meet You,” from his new EP A Minute…, he moves on adrenaline, but his vision stretches beyond the surface. The song tells the story of an unexpected encounter that changes everything, capturing a moment of clarity or realisation, but it’s left open to interpretation. Is it about a lover, a longing, or something more abstract? Myles himself explains that it’s “inspired by stories from friends in my life,” and how sometimes the right person or situation comes along when you least expect it, shifting your perspective completely."

As I listened to “Nice to Meet You” for the first time, I was transported straight back to Glastonbury, 2011 “pack sunscreen” the headlines read that year. For once, it was a sunny festival – no mud, no need to navigate the slippery paths just to get from one stage to another. It was warm, like really warm! I can picture this song being performed on the Pyramid Stage perhaps... Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if, by next year, Myles is on that lineup for 2025.

There’s something about the energy of the song that just feels right for that kind of setting. It’s one of those tracks that bubbles up memories and emotions, transporting you to a specific time and place. That’s the magic of it, right? A song that brings all those feelings to the surface.

But “Nice to Meet You” isn’t the only standout on ‘A Minute…’. The entire EP reflects Myles’ maturation of self and art. Tracks like “Whisper” and “Stargazing” illustrate his ability to touch listeners' hearts, while “Wait For You” takes a raw, vulnerable dive into relationships. His collaboration with James Bay on “Waste” brings a new dimension to the EP, exploring like a thread that pulls through the fabric of emotion. Myles himself says, “This project captures that growth,” and it’s clear throughout the EP that he’s been pushing himself to dive deeper into his emotions and experiences.

Myles has acknowledged the changes in his life since his last EP: “My last EP reflected where I was back then, but I’ve grown a lot since, both personally and artistically.” This growth is reflected in the music. Each song wears its truth openly, no masks, no pretence. Myles explores relationships, change, and the small moments that shape us.

As he puts it, “It’s about those small moments that end up meaning the most.” This theme of reflection of the smaller moments seems to be a resonation between artists this year, one artist that springs to mind is Fred Again’s… 10 days where his message was the same ‘focus on the smaller moments’.

Since his breakthrough track “Stargazing” hit over a billion streams in 2024, Myles has seen global success. “Stargazing” has topped charts across the UK, Germany, New Zealand, and more, and he’s building a strong fan base in North America, where his 35-date tour sold out. His momentum only continues to grow, and it’s clear that he’s building something lasting in the music scene. Beyond the numbers, it’s the connection Myles shares with his fans that’s really making an impact.

“Nice to Meet You” is a track that shows Myles’ growth, but the entire EP A Minute... is a glimpse into where he’s headed. With each song, Myles dives deeper into his personal journey, experimenting with new sounds, and tapping into emotions that feel both Global and intimate. If you haven’t already, it’s time to take notice – Myles Smith is an artist to watch, and A Minute... is just the beginning, next it'll be an hour, a day, a month … a year…
