MM6 x Salomon SS26: The Soft Side ofTechnicality

In an era where every luxury brand wants a piece of the trail shoe, MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon continue to prove why they’re still the blueprint. For Spring/Summer 2026, the long-running collaboration returns with a campaign that feels less like sportswear marketing and more like a study of contemporary living. Shot in a bedroom rather than on a mountain, the visuals swap performance’s usual obsession with movement for something quieter: rest, intimacy and everyday ritual. The sneakers sit against rumpled sheets, oversized knits and pastel bedding. Nothing feels staged. Nothing feels urgent. It’s a world where technical footwear isn’t reserved for the outdoors but exists naturally within the rhythms of daily life. The imagery echoes the themes of MM6’s SS26 collection, which explored “heightened normality” and the reworking of familiar archetypes. Ordinary moments become slightly distorted, slightly elevated, transformed through a Margiela lens. What makes the partnership continue to resonate is its refusal to choose between utility and concept. Salomon brings decades of technical expertise, while MM6 treats function as a design language rather than a limitation. The result is footwear that exists comfortably between performance gear and fashion object. The SS26 capsule continues that conversation through reworked silhouettes including the XT-MM6 and Cross Dust, pushing familiar outdoor forms into more experimental territory. At a time when “gorpcore” has become a marketing buzzword, MM6 x Salomon still feels genuine. Less about trend-chasing and more about the ongoing collapse of boundaries: indoors and outdoors, luxury and utility, movement and stillness. These aren’t shoes designed for escaping everyday life. They’re designed for living it.
