Miraa May drops a surprise 6-track EP ‘Kind Regards’ her first release as an independent Artist.

Miraa May, known for blending Afrobeats, Rap, R&B, and Soul, working with names like Ghetts, Nines, Sainte, and JME. The Algerian-born singer-songwriter with three MOBO nominations - Best Album, Best Female Act, and Best R&B/Soul Act. Surprised us all with Kind Regards, a six-track EP that marks her return to the effortlessly enchanting R&B sound we fell in love with.

This is Miraa’s first project release as an independent artist, and it feels free,  fearless, thoughts linger, and she is just herself—a role model for women. Taking inspiration from the streets of North London where she grew up, the

friendships she’s formed, and the life experiences she has from a life lived. 

This project in particular was written and recorded while she spent time in LA, you kind of feel that as you listen through this project. It’s explicit. It’s honest. It’s naked and unfiltered. Miraa addresses topics that many women can relate to, and as listeners press play, they’ll feel seen and heard—just like I do as I write this. 

Kind Regards is the kind of project you play during late-night drives, headlights dimmed, cruising through the city.

The kind of music that might make you take that detour to that person's house, that you probably shouldn’t go to.

You know, the one that should be on your block list. So instead you keep driving, letting the words, the beat, and purposeful pauses accompany you on this late night drive, with no real destination. 

The focus track, Ladies Man, produced by Everett Moon and Lasik Beats, explores the double standards surrounding men, women, and sexuality. Men often escape accountability whilst on the flip side women receive judgement and side eyes.

Ray Fiasco, a longtime friend and collaborator, brought the piece to life with a visually beautiful music video which ends with Miraa in the forest, one arm crossed, smoking a cigar in a white tank top and black tailored trousers.

Even her stance as she watches the flames go up is powerful. Fiasco also directed the first single ,Girlfriend, which has received support from tastemakers like Wonderland, Hypebeast, and BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Victoria Jane.

Across the project Miraa’ s voice takes us on this trip, the infectious Shot Like This, the seductive Bed, and my personal favourite Wgo (What’s Going On?) with lyrics like “they say a lot but I don’t care what they may say, Tonight I wanna get my body right baby” displaying that Miraa May type confidence we know and love. Now, with Kind Regards, a quiet revolution, echoing Miraa's undeniable presence in the scene.
