Jim Legxacy Explores The Pain Of Critique And Art On New Single ‘PowerTrip!’

Jim Legxacy unveils an experimental, emotive and melodic track called ‘Powertrip’ and announces the release of his highly anticipated forthcoming sophomore EP BTO, due for release on Tuesday October 13th. Showcasing Jim’s diverse cadence as a rapper and singer, this latest single following the widely supported genre bending offering ‘4LeafClover’ speaks volume on talent and adds a further chapter to the story Jim will tell on the forthcoming project as he explores the feelings around critique and art.

BTO! promises an honest and raw examination of the self-doubting but highly-charged creative cycle that many artists find themselves. Each track on the project encapsulates a separate emotional reaction to Jim’s own battle with the scrutiny of his most treasured possession - his music. Speaking on ‘Powertrip’ which he produced, Jim says:

“I realised pretty quickly that people are always going to critique what you do… So at some point you just need to embrace that. Making PowerTrip felt like revenge on all the people that deprived me of opportunities.”

A self-described angsty teen who felt without an outlet to express himself properly, when Jim Legxacy started creating music at 18 he never looked back. As he began exploring his sound as a producer and rapper, Jim took inspiration from the diverse range of music he fell in love with growing up; from alt rock bands like Skillet and Sick Puppies to rappers including JPEGMAFIA and Kanye West and the Yoruba boy band Infinity. A refreshingly thoughtful and considered artist, his incredible 7-track debut EP Dynasty Project blended rock, hip hop and R&B and confronted issues including racism, substance abuse, heartache and family.

A deeply personal and honest body of work that quickly tipped Jim as ‘one to watch’, it’s release followed an intense period of creative block which soon served as fuel for the sound you will hear on BTO!.
