IMVN has just released the visuals for her brand new single entitled Labour.
19 year old R&B newcomer, producer, songwriter and violinist IMVN (pronounced Iman) released the audio to her debut single Labour last week. Showcasing a hybrid of R&B, trap and electronic, Labour comes ahead of further releases due early next year including an EP.
Songwriting and producing since the age of 12, IMVN presents intricacy and sensitivity in her songwriting and vocal style. Drawing eclectic influence from Kate Bush’s unapologetic yet sensitive delivery and Karyn White’s timeless music and sleek aesthetics. Labour is written by IMVN herself, depicts the internal struggle of self doubt and the labour of that hesitation. Co-produced with 3AM (Emmavie, Diztortion, Wayne Hector) IMVN wrote the track alongside the video treatment, allowing both processes to inspire each other. The track itself is an industrial, R&B layered track with the melismatic and soulful vocals of IMVN. A current student at Urdang Academy, dance is the other half of IMVN’s art. Visually, the video is choreographed by Eni Sama who recently starred in Kojey Radical’s Can’t Go Back video. The mirrored choreography aims to depict the conflict felt within from self doubt, whilst also exploring the claustrophobic relationship between two people. Watch the visuals for Labour below.
