After releasing a string of singles and visuals drawing from his album, Germany's leading producer FloFilz has finally released what looks like his most stunning project to date: Close Distance.
Featuring a handful of collaborations including velvet-soft vocalist Jerome Thomas, the jazz-inspired Alfa Mist, Nior R&B singer KeepVibesNear and the jazztronica duo Blue Lab Beats, Close Distance was created in multiple different locations such as in Aachen, Moabit and London.
Close Distance reflects the German translation for 'near in space or time' which which music can close the distance for each of us. With the 16-track album blending a multitude of sounds that range from contemporary jazz, alternative R&B and rap, Close Distance demonstrates FloFilz' passion for lo-fi, soul and hip-hop as well as how he is able to unite a selection of unique musicians and songwriters to produce effortlessly divine sounds and feelings.
Using an array of instruments to produce his tracks, the self-taught producer studied the violin as well as classical music whilst playing in orchestras. By being influenced by his musician parents from a young age, he takes inspiration from classic hip-hop beatmaker pioneers such as A Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla and Madlib which is evidently heard throughout Close Distance. As he draws influences from London's jazz scene, Close Distance echoes a myriad of emotions and intricately produced beats throughout that have propelled FloFilz into a new era of his sound.
