Emerging Star Sekou Releases His Debut EP 'Out of Mind' Alongwith Brand New Track 'Forgiving Myself'

Rising Leicester-born musician, Sekou has returned to the music scene with his long-awaited debut EP ‘Out of Mind’, which is accompanied by his stunning new single ‘Forgiving Myself’. At the tender age of 18, Sekou has once again proven he is wiser than his years with this outstanding project that flutters between a variety of soothing R’n’B and Jazz tones.

Consisting of 5 well-crafted tracks, ‘Out of Mind’ demonstrates Sekou’s impressive lyricism, crisp vocals, and blissful anecdotes, as he highlights the importance of self-love, modern-day romance, and growth. ‘Out of Mind’ follows on from his highly successful debut single ‘Better Man’, which has already caught the attention of BBC Radio 1, COLORS, and some of the industry’s biggest stars from Dua Lipa to Bruno Mars.

As the lead track off of the EP ‘Forgiving Myself’ is an uptempo but refreshing introduction to the EP, which is then followed by the already adored single ‘Better Man’, which kicked off the career of the budding musician who put his heart on his sleeve during his debut single. ‘Out of Mind’ is then filled with three brand new tracks that are bound to fill you with happiness or tears of joy, as Sekou plays with a variety of sounds and abstract emotions they include ‘Be With You’, ‘You and I’ and ‘Too Young’. Being inspired by some of the world's most timeless artists like Prince, Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan, and Beyoncé, it was only right Sekou’s debut was produced by two highly skilled producer’s including Sounwave (6Lack, Kendrick Lamar) & Yakob (J Cole, Future, SZA, Giveon).

On the EP, Sekou said: “I wanted to have creative freedom on this and do something different from what I've done before. I loved having control over the kind of sound I wanted to make, the people I wanted to work with, and the tracks on the project – it was freeing and allowed me to be honest. I'm excited for people to listen to this EP and understand me more as an artist. While ‘Better Man’ showcased my vocal ability, this project shows my range, and what I'm truly capable of.”

With such a unique sound, Sekou is very quickly turning into one of the UK’s most talked about rising artists. ‘Out of MInd’ exhibits Sekou’s breathtaking range, despite being so early in his career the future is most definitely looking bright for the budding star.
