Multi-disciplinary LA-based artist DAISY WORLD releases her new single ‘ur soggy’: a euphoric combination of R&B and breakbeat pop that represents defiance in the face of rejection.
DAISY WORLD’s single is the first release from her debut solo album expected in 2024, tied together by themes of rejection, unease and, ultimately, the acceptance of a relationship not turning out how she’d hoped.
Citing musical inspirations such as Carole King and Snoop Dogg, DAISY WORLD isn’t afraid to combine genres in ‘ur soggy’, a whimsical mesh of indie R&B and alt-pop.
The artist has previously collaborated with the likes of Tyler the Creator on ‘RISE!’ for Grammy-award winning album CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST, as well as being the sole feature on Steve Lacy’s Grammy nominated album Apollo XXI.
Her lyrics encapsulate feelings of rejection and frustration within a tumultuous relationship: “I thought you were something cool / but you’re so fucking typical / we can break it down if you want to / either way I’m OK.”
DAISY WORLD perfectly captures the emotions of unease and uncertainty within love that many twenty-somethings can relate to: “It’s on again / It’s off again”, before coming to an overall acceptance of the situation: “Either way I’m OK”.
Describing the sentiment behind the new single, DAISY WORLD says "ur soggy is a song about rejection... When I feel rejected, I tend to feel quite defensive lol so here I am being defensive & singing a silly little diss track".
Recognised by Office Magazine as ‘a woman who can do it all’, she is certainly one to watch leading up to the release of her 2024 album. Representing an intersection of styles unique to her generation, DAISY WORLD crystallises the experience of a young woman figuring it all out and learning lessons along the way.
