Brent Faiyaz Guides Us From Emotion To Emotion On New Album 'Wasteland'

GRAMMY award-winning R&B singer Brent Faiyaz had built up agonising suspense for his sophomore album teasing listeners back in June. Working with the likes of the Neptunes and Alicia Keys, the Maryland native has officially delivered and it's not a project to be skipped over.

An anti-hero in his own right known for his audacious lyrics, it was inevitable that Faiyaz would provide us with some memorable one liners whilst delivering them in the sleekest manner. Speaking on the project, in a recent interview with Rolling Stone the R&B virtuoso had expressed that:

“For me, Wasteland is just what I felt like we living in with this post-pandemic cluster-fuck of emotions. You got motherfuckers taking women’s rights away. There’s just so much shit going on in the world at large. But I still get caught up in the vices. I still want to buy some shit. I still want to fuck bitches. I still want to get wasted every other night. So I’m gonna make songs about at least how I feel in the moment so I can figure out what the fuck I really want to do.”

The album includes previously released popular singles featuring Tyler, The Creator, as well as last week's recent release “Price Of Fame” setting the tone for the album’s exploration of the contrast between wealth and poverty, and the ways in which fame could lead to reckless behaviour.
