BOOKMARC by Marc Jacobs at The Standard with Lily Allen was Perfect.

Launched in 2010 on Bleecker Street in Manhattan, BookMarc originated as an extension of Marc Jacobs’ personal love for books and art. The website itself describes it as “an online extension of our institutional Manhattan book store… built from Marc’s love of the literary arts.” The physical storefront was part brand-retail, part gathering place, shelves of art and fashion coffee-table books, journals, limited-edition stationery, and other tactile objects that sit outside conventional merchandise. BOOKMARC by Marc Jacobs continues to stand as one of the most compelling examples of how a fashion house can transcend clothing to become a curator of ideas.

Now an international concept with locations in New York, Tokyo, and Paris, the latest chapter of BOOKMARC unfolds in London, The Standard plays host to an intimate new BOOKMARC pop-up residency inside its Library Lounge. True to Marc Jacobs’ ethos of fusing intellect with aesthetics, the residency serves as both a literary hub and a stage for cultural dialogue. BOOKMARC works on multiple levels for the Marc Jacobs brand. First, it reinforces brands passion for curating culture. Second, the space bridges the fashion-consumer with a more intellectual, art-oriented consumer. Third, it functions as a platform for brand extension, you can buy the books, you can attend events, you can absorb the aesthetic that surrounds the name.

The highlight of this London chapter is a special evening celebrating Lily Allen’s return to music after seven years, marking a defining cultural moment for both the artist and BOOKMARC. In collaboration with Perfect Magazine, Lily will host a signing event for an exclusive, super-limited zine conceived as a visual study, reflecting the unfiltered, introspective energy of her latest creative chapter. Equally, the signing and social gathering invites guests to connect with Lily, the Perfect team, and The Standard’s creative community in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

A sort of homecoming for BOOKMARC’s global cultural program, which over the years has hosted an impressive roster of collaborators and guests, from Kate Moss, Kendall Jenner, and Gigi Hadid to Linda Evangelista, and many more. These events have cemented BOOKMARC’s reputation in tangible, memorable ways, especially aligning with leading culture platforms such as Perfect Magazine.

The London residency officially launched on September 2nd with a special evening featuring renowned 90s photographer Pamela Hanson in conversation with legendary hairstylist Sam McKnight. Programming at The Standard’s Library Lounge will continue throughout the rest of the year, expanding BOOKMARC’s legacy as a cross-disciplinary hub. Upcoming highlights include collaborations with Anna Sui, and Tom Sachs, each representing a different corner of the creative landscape. The idea of a fashion-brand-bookstore may once have seemed niche; today it feels prescient. As consumers seek meaning and context in purchases, brand spaces that offer more than product will win engagement.
