Blaqbonez Features Longtime Friend, Asake, on New Single ‘Chanel’

Arriving fresh off the momentum of his latest album No Excuses (Deluxe) and a sold-out UK tour run, Blaqbonez hit streaming platforms with ‘Chanel’. Having released a snippet on his socials earlier, the song gained traction as a solo single over the past months. To everyone’s surprise, Blaqbonez later decided to bring Asake on the song to amplify the buzz.

In addition to Asake being an early supporter of the record since its snippet, this collaboration marks a full-circle moment for the pair as they have been friends since their undergraduate days in Obafemi Awolowo University.

‘Chanel’, a track that blends swagger and luxury, sees Blaqbonez in his witty element where he tags himself Fresh Prince of Bel-Air while Asake owns the second verse with his melodic flair.

Accompanied by a music video that captures the pair’s chemistry and playful energy, Blaqbonez opens the floor in an all-black outfit as he runs on a treadmill with a bag slung behind his left shoulder. Asake dances into the scene for his verse in an all-black outfit as well. The video is directed by Christian Saint and Edgar Esteves, the latter being a frequent collaborator of Asake.
