The Polish-American songstress released her catchy new number following her fiery debut single 'Man Can't Hang'.
From pursuing music at the age of 17, Galazka was brought up in a Polish home where she was surrounded by reggae and polka, with this she was able to develop her electrifying sound. As she grew up in Florida, she tries to create her music with polka in mind. Although her musical influences cover many different genres she draws inspiration from classic artists such as Bob Marley, Eek-A-Mouse, Rina Sawayama, Tierra Whack, My Chemical Romance and Kevin Abstract which fortifies her concoction of pop influences.
With this blazing new single taking us back to school Galazka tells the story about a bully she had when she was eight years old. Having been paired with the director of Princess Nokia's 'Balenciaga' Paulette Agnes Ang, the visuals are an extension of the video for 'Man Can't Hang'.
“I bring two of these characters over to the ‘Marisa’ video, the ‘producer me’ and the ‘artist me’. This is because I am involved in all the parts of the songwriting process, from writing and singing to producing and playing -just like I take action in every part of my life. The patriarchy teaches women we need to be dependent in so many ways, but if you don’t have your own back, nobody will."
Berry Galazka continues to explore the many realms that her artistic prowess ventures into and we can't wait to see what she does next. Galazka's debut EP Man Can’t Hang, Ain’t Part of the Gang is out 7th May 2021.
