Asake and Wizkid Reunite on Anticipated Joint EP “REAL, Vol. 1”

Wizkid and Asake caused a frenzy on social media in December 2025 when the duo announced that they had a joint project in the works. The good news was spilled when the pair made an appearance on “Close Friends Only with Instagram”, leaving fans to end the year on an exciting note.

A month later, the joint project is here in the new year! Having worked together two times prior, this 4-track EP cements the chemistry between the two Afrobeats superstars.

Their first duet was ‘MMS’ on Asake’s third studio album Lungu Boy unveiled in 2024, a hit that went on to become Grammy-nominated. In the same year, the duo rekindled on Wizkid’s ‘Bad Girl’ off the album Morayo

Both hits left fans asking for more collaborations, and the pair yielded to this yearning. REAL, Vol. 1 was previewed a week ahead of release with the single ‘Jogodo’. As soon as ‘Jogodo’ dropped, people were stoked.

The focus track ‘Turbulence’ takes first place on the EP. Accompanied by a music video, ‘Turbulence’ introduces subtle, edgy experimentation without losing its dance-ready core. One of the scenes in its captivating visuals has a backdrop of the Nigerian flag, with Asake and Wizkid singing in front of the backdrop. Through this, the artistes pay homage to their home country.

The next track is ‘Jogodo’, meaning intoxicated/high. ‘Iskolodo’, another compelling tune with a catchy title, serves as the third song. The concluding track is ‘Alaye’, a versatile Yoruba word that’s synonymous with “bro” in the context of the song.

Throughout the project, the pair interchange the opening voice on the songs. Asake opens the floor on ‘Turbulence’ while Wizkid holds the first verse on ‘Jogodo’. This arrangement repeats itself respectively on the two other tracks.

With a smooth back and forth between the duo in both Yoruba and Pidgin English, Asake and Wizkid built the 4-track EP around rhythm, and cultural confidence.

While fans continue awaiting Asake’s forthcoming fourth studio album, M$ney, REAL, Vol. 1 is a breath of fresh air and an unprecedented project since Asake hit the spotlight in 2022.

Asake has featured and has been featured a lot. In fact, the hitmaker has worked with a handful of musicians more than once, but this is the first time he’s done a joint project with anybody. REAL, Vol. 1 set the pace.
