A Look Into Louis Vuitton Men's Fall/Winter 2024 Show at Paris Fashion Week

Tuesday 16th January 2024 was one for the books as Louis Vuitton opened Paris Fashion Week with a bang at their Men's Fall-Winter 2024 show. Pharrell showcased his latest collection at his third show as creative director for the fashion house. With a flawless debut in June 2023 and a notable pre-fall show in Hong Kong, there was much anticipation for his third event with the Maison. Hosted at the Jardin d’Acclimatation, France’s first amusement and leisure park, the venue saw cultural icons like Chanel Iman, Venus Williams, and Gunna. Pharrell’s appointment in the role of creative director has proved to be a great choice for LV, as he has continued to honour the brand’s legacy in a fresh reimagined way similar to his predecessor Virgil Abloh.

The show consisted of 80 looks continuing the LVERS theme from the debut collection. The Louis Vuitton initials form the emblem symbolising discernment, skill, and attention to the iconic elements. The collection embodied this through the lens of the first American male archetype ‘The Cowboy’. Collaborating with artisans from the Dakota and Lakota nations, Native American Dakota flowers and handpainted Parfleche patterns imbue the garments further driving the theme of the American West. Vaquero jackets, bolo ties, blanket coats, leather chaps and at the core of it all workwear pieces. 

We can always expect Louis Vuitton to deliver exciting and eye-catching accessories. Pharrell stays true to his streetwear background by integrating statement pieces from hip-hop culture into high fashion as seen with the LV monogrammed Timberlands. The attention to detail cannot go unnoticed, as we see models with gold and turquoise LV monogram grills. The Speedy bag is released in new, bold, and bright colours and the embroidered Louis Vuitton dandy is unmissable.

My favourite motif will always be the 'Damoflage' print as it signifies the legacy of Virgil Abloh and the seamless blend of streetwear and high fashion. 'Damoflage' is a cleverly pixelated combination of camouflage and the famous Damier print. The new collection reimagines it with cow print colours and buffalo plaid, aligning with the theme and creating some iconic pieces.
