A$AP Rocky Brings New Flows to Latest Single, ‘SH*TTIN’ ME’

As of late, there are usually more hyphens included in introduction paragraphs about Rakim Myers than dollar signs. It’s a testament to the Harlem artist’s ability to turn his hand to projects in all sorts of worlds. The newest universe to benefit from Rocky’s creative input is in EA’s brand new ‘Need for Speed: Unbound’ game. The lead single from its soundtrack, SH*TTIN’ ME sees the A$AP Mob leader enter familiarly provocative territory.

The track, produced by Krash, offers a booming trap beat peppered with a catchy set of flows, filtered through a subtle autotune that adds a welcome texture to Rocky’s voice. The beat really drives the track forward, with a call-and-response melody not dissimilar from early Awful Records productions. Rocky slots his verses in over the crashing snares, never straying far from the impending hook.

The music video, directed by Grin Machine, is as always surreal and comes with the incredible production value that we’ve come to expect from A$AP Rocky’s output. The simplistic song is almost juxtaposed with a saturated, Weekend at Bernie’s-esque story of out-of-control fame.

Rocky says of the video, “Grin Machine did a great job paying homage to the game collaboration with AWGE with the fun wacky aesthetics, and shout out to krash and hec for the music as always.” Of his collaboration with Need for Speed, Rocky adds, “It has been a pleasure getting to be a creative collaborator with EA”.

SH*TTIN’ ME is featured on EA and Criterion Games’ brand-new game, Need for Speed™ Unbound, available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
