Raleigh Ritchie Returns With Visual Masterpiece 'Aristocrats'

Well-loved UK artist Raleigh Ritchie has made a long-awaited return with the highly anticipated news of his second project 'Andy', set to be released this Summer. 'Andy' will be the first full body of work from Bristol born and London-hailing Raleigh (aka Jacob Anderson) in four years, following his inaugural debut album 'You’re A Man Now Boy'. The introspective and multi dimensional musician has also dropped a brand new single entitled 'Aristocrats' complete with a self-directed visual that is both moving and visionary, painting the dark and tragic history of POC throughout different time periods. 'Aristocrats' lands in the wake of Raleigh’s hit single 'Time In A Tree', which will also feature on the upcoming album and has garnered over 8 million views on Youtube alone.

I don't even want a patch on my jacket

I don't wanna move another tax bracket

I don't wanna be a part of my family tree

I don't wanna turn my back

But I don't want a part of that

In the aristocracy

Speaking on the single and its accompanying visual, Raleigh states:

“British history is complicated, especially as a POC. And history is everything, it’s what we learn from to help us build our future. In school I didn’t learn much about British history aside from the country’s victories and a version of some of it’s atrocities. Sometimes it’s a confusing place, and although I love my country, I don’t always feel loved by it. With this video I wanted to explore this and my relationship to my own history and the history of those who came before me.”

The inspiration behind 'Andy' comes from a nickname given to him as a young boy from his grandfather, now, 'Andy' is making his foray into the world of music; this time in the form of Raleigh Ritchie’s anticipated second album. The twelve track project sees Raleigh vulnerably holding a magnifying glass up to himself. The album is a creation of heartbreakingly honest songs that flawlessly fuse sweeping soul and mellow R&B with modernistic electronica and valiant orchestral moments. Featuring producers such as Chris Loco, GRADES and Sounwave, 'Andy' is set out to be truly powerful and a long-awaited return that packs a poignant punch while continuing to garner the undying love and support of Raleigh’s dedicated long- term fans.

Andy is a little wink to myself. It’s saying, this is you speaking right now, this is you saying what you have to say. I write songs for myself, to get things off my chest and process my emotions. When I release them I don’t own them anymore; they belong to other people. I hope there is someone who listens to it and hears themselves in the album. I hope that makes them feel less lonely.”
