Paris Brings Heat While Wales Bonner Brings 'Sun Poem' The SS27 Collection

During the Parisian heatwave, Grace Wales Bonner released her Spring Summer 27 collection based on portraiture. All whilst preparing for her first collection as newly appointed Creative Director of Hermes Menswear, there are no bounds to Bonner’s creative abilities. Among the city's street parties, long queues for fashion's biggest household names shows, and the continuous pace of Parisian life in the background, 'Sun Poem' feels like the perfect balance in between it all to take a moment to reflect not just on where we are going, but to enjoy the comfort in calmly adapting to each new space between the states of dress.

‘Sun Poem’ brings to life a sophisticated look of the calm and collected tailored citywearer similar to Grace’s recognisable style, a designer who designs for pieces they would actually wear themselves. The pieces embody the roaming energy of young carefree yet professional men and women who carry wardrobe staples of leather biker jackets, navy wool zip ups and few brightly coloured pullovers that sit perfectly layered on the structured collars styled in the collection imagery.

Wales Bonner collaborated with Saville Row designer Anderson & Sheppard for this collection on a wool top coat with a contrasting notch lapel, a standout piece from the collection in a signature navy shown throughout the looks. For Spring Summer 27,  the womenswear and menswear colour palette blends earthy tone and muted mustard oranges, deep reds with more varied garments. A notable garment is the beige vest embroidered with flower petals underneath a matching buttoned-down cape making the collection feel effortlessly expressive from Bonner’s perspective yet intimate as the collection develops into mature looks that come back to the designer’s intention of ‘refining oneself’.
