Northern Powerhouse Meets Northern Soul: Barbour x Baracuta

This season, Barbour and Baracuta are back for the third time, with the same rhythm. The two Northern icons reconnect around something that’s always been theirs: soul. Not in the metaphorical sense, but in the Northern Soul sense, real movement, sweat, music, and belonging.

Shot inside Jumbi, a cultural spot in Peckham that feels as alive as the story they’re telling, the campaign links heritage with heartbeat. Behind the lens is Normski, one of the UK’s OG documentarians of music and street culture, joined by Goya Gumbani, whose sound is smooth, timeless, and deeply British in its own way. Together, they bring the collection to life with two creatives continuing that long-standing dialogue between style and sound.

The clothes sit right at that intersection: waxed jackets, tartan linings, patched caps, graphic tees that could’ve easily been sold at an old-school dance hall. There’s something nostalgic, but it’s not about recreating the past. It’s more about energy, the type that refuses to die out.

You can feel both brands’ histories in every detail. Barbour, born in South Shields, made for the rain and the work. Baracuta, out of Manchester, sharp, cool, and music-tied since the ‘60s. They’ve always been part of the same story, now they’re just telling it together again. The collection nods to the subcultures that made these jackets iconic, from The Who to Wigan Casino. There’s the Porton Wax Jacket, the Tyne Coat, and the Northern Crew Sweatshirt pieces that carry the toughness of the North but the polish of today. Ian Bergin from Barbour said it best: “The two brands are a natural pairing... the Northern Soul inspiration adds real character, and the result is something so wonderful, unique and British.” And he’s right, this collab doesn’t just celebrate where these brands come from, it captures what keeps them relevant: the ability to adapt, remix, and still feel authentic.

Barbour x Baracuta’s AW25 collection is now available in-store and online at barbour.com, baracuta.com, and selected retailers.
