Today, East London’s DIY pop savant - kwassa returns with a new self-produced single, entitled ‘Sucker’.
Delivering an delicious slice of his soul-pop sonics on his first release of the year; ‘Sucker’ sees kwassa draw lyrical inspiration from his day-to-day life, while making light of some super annoying situations. Drenched in feel-good vibes, the soulful pop jam allows the singer’s confident vocals to take centre stage over a smooth, downbeat production infused with a gospel-flavored sample.
Speaking on his new track, Kwassa says:
“I was in the middle of one of those crappy weeks where things kept going wrong (my car was broken into and then my bike was stolen) when I made sucker. Writing it down in a totally non-figurative way and putting it into a song was the perfect way to joke it off and use it as fuel to make something cool. Everyone is a sucker for something or someone, and this is just a tongue in cheek take on the relationship between my life and my music.”
