KennyHoopla Shares Experimental New Single And Video 'NORTHERN LIGHTS//'

KennyHoopla has reimagined who he is and has wiped his artistic slate clean. With the release of 'Northern Lights', alongside a transcendental music video, KennyHoopla has created something so exhilaratingly imaginative, it grabs you by the shoulders and screams in your face to look at it.

The Cleveland-born artist has been praised for his experimental approach to producing, blending every type of genre under the sun. 'Northern Lights' stays true to this definition. Inspired by Sonic Youth and The Ride, KennyHoopla has been ambitious with this project. He refuses to settle for nothing less and engage in musical exploration that transcends reality and expresses how he really and truly feels.

'Northern Lights' is the soundtrack to life. KennyHoopla understands the mishaps and the struggles we experience daily, but the combination of warm and empathetic vocals along with the relentless symbols and strings identifies that there is beauty within the pain.

Speaking on the track, KennyHoopla (born Kenneth La’ron) said: “This song went through a lot of phases but I think it ended up back in its rawest form. I was listening to so much 90’s shoegaze and post rock bands around this time. I think this is probably a tribute to SONIC YOUTH and RIDE for saving my life, which is what I think this song wanted and needed. No shiny shit or production, just a journey.”

The music video to accompany ''Northern Lights' reiterates the same truth. It feels free, it symbolises a release of energy, but almost like a psychedelic trip into the unknown. He brings to it a nostalgic feel, it’s almost like an intro to a 90s music channel, flowing and ebbing visuals which hook the viewer like a hallucinogenic, mind-controlling pill which takes us back in time.

KennyHoopla has been doing this for a long time though, this isn’t his first rodeo. He began self-releasing music in the late-2010s, when his heartfelt anthems quickly made him a phenom.

His presence has been felt constantly, collaborating with the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Bloc Party, Blink-182 and Limp Bizkit, showing his multiplicity of range and passion to learn from the greats around him.

The combination of both video and music emits tones of shoegaze, ethereal and otherworldly. It’s heavy, it’s refreshing, it’s KennyHoopla adding more colour to the world; one that he aims to wash over society. Fear him, he’s back.
