With almost half a million listeners on Spotify, London juggernaut BackRoad Gee has done more than most in the last 12 months. He's been the face of Skepta's Nike Air Tailwind V collection, one of the coveted Tiffany Calver's 'Street Heat: Class of 2021' hot picks, he has (allegedly) collaborated with more artists than anyone else in such a short period of time and even contributed sonically to Metallica's 30th anniversary of The Black Album.
September 17th will see a much-anticipated project released fresh off the press: 'REPORTING LIVE FROM THE BACK OF THE ROADS', his debut mixtape. BG has been consistently unleashing smoking hot tracks and fire features since his 2020 EP 'Mukta Vs Mukta' and the upcoming mixtape is set to leave 2021 with his name on everyone's lips. His adlibs even made it onto this season of The Rap Game!
Recently Apple Music picked BackRoad Gee's newest single 'Fear Nuttin' as the next of 'The Agenda' video series:
Never one to do anything by halves, another track featuring Dappy and M24 dropped via GRM Daily. How can he be in two places at once?
When it comes to getting his community of fans involved, BackRoad Gee has done more than most. From remix competitions, to asking his followers to tag artists he should work with, to visiting other countries (he's currently in Lagos) and starting up cyphers. All of these decision and actions make him incredibly popular and his music able to bypass borders.
There will of course be more collaborations coming up with fellow rising star Pa Salieu, 'Crime Partners' is one track we are looking forward to listening to on the impending mixtape. Both high energy performers whom play of each other's bubbling bravado. It's this energy that BackRoad Gee will be continously revered for, energy on his tracks as well as his live performances that few can come close to replicating. Gee recently broke the news in a post on his social media:
“After almost 2 years of hard work, blood, sweat & tears (literally), I can say I’ve had some of the craziest life changes which makes this mixtape mean so much to me. If you know me personally, this music and energy I give you is me from my heart. It’s not a job I go to or an identity I put on. Every word, every punchline, every ad-lib, I feel through the energy and the music is real, not a fairytale. This is I, King Brukz, Reporting Live From The Back of The Roads!”
